1st Generation

Angela & Franz Vögele

1913 – The first steps:
The history of the “Gasthaus zum Schwarzen Adler” begins in 1913 with its first mention in Leo Handl’s “Ski Guide through the Samnaun Group.” The inn offers space for eight people. At that time, it is, along with the “Gasthaus zum Löwen,” one of the first inns in Serfaus.

1926 – Affordable comfort:
An overnight stay costs 6 Schilling, which corresponds to about 0.44 cents. The inn develops into a popular meeting point for skiers and travelers.

1932/33 – Service improvements:
The price for one night rises to 250 Schilling, and the hotel now has 18 beds and a telephone – a special feature at the time.

1942 – The great fire:
A major village fire completely destroys most of Serfaus and with it the “Hotel Adler.”
